It’s amaz­ing how for­tu­nate Democ­rats have since the 2008 elec­tion. They’ve man­aged to hold onto Lieberman’s vote fairly reli­ably, then eked out Sen­a­tor #59 from a marathon recount in Min­nesota, and #60 in a rare defection. Somehow, though, that hasn’t been quite enough for Democ­rats to get what they want on a major reform like health care, and with a dan­ger­ous 2010 ahead, just about every­one is wor­ried re: what they put on the record this year. The last straw, then, may be the break­down of the Sen­a­tors up for re-​​election in, in fact, 2010 (h/​t fivethir­tyeight):

So… freak­ing… lucky! And with Ben Nel­son now on board, the implied out­look for that 2012 class just got a bit better.
