GOP to Bunning: “Stop Drawing Attention To Us!”

At this point, Senate Republicans are starting to worry that the horrific antics being carried out by the more .… opportunistic … members of their caucus will give away their grand strategy. Jim Bunning, apparently not learning a single lesson from the Shelby fiasco, has decided to stick it to the nation by objecting to everything the government tries to do, including the amendment that he wants passed.

Nuclear option in the SenateNow he’s running into trouble with his own party. In a big “screw off” move (no, not giving the finger to reporters again), Bunning has refused even to allow Susan Collins, a member of his own party, to have a moment to speak on the Senate floor. Republicans have realized that this draws some negative attention to the tactics they’ve used for the to rule the country with their majority. They’d rather shut him up, and get back to filibustering other things. But, uh, they can’t, because it’s his right to be as obstructive as he wants to be.

The fallout of these episodes should be fun.
