The rea­son is that income growth for poor house­holds has come almost entirely via increases in net gov­ern­ment trans­fers, and the degree to which gov­ern­ments have increased trans­fers seems to have been unaf­fected by changes in income inequality.

It’s def­i­nitely worth remind­ing every­one that we live in one of the most unequal economies on the planet, and we refuse to do any­thing about it. In fact, only Repub­li­cans are really work­ing hard to make sure that Amer­ica becomes even more unequal.
